Hi my name is Annelies and live in Holland. Together with my husband and 2 sons, we have been visiting the south eastern part of Crete for many years now. Since visiting Crete over 30 years ago, and falling immediately in love with the island, I always had a vague intention of someday purchasing a property there with a view to someday permanent residence. So at the beginning of 2004, my wife and I (she also loves Crete) decided to act. As a British citizen resident in Finland but working in Kuwait, the search and purchase process appeared formidable; however, the internet should facilitate the first tentative steps. We located 3 or 4 websites which dealt with properties in the south-east of the island, the area in which we were particularly interested. We decided that the Crete Island Homes website was a well presented and well organized site and, as we were most interested in a mountain village property, we contacted the agents and bombarded them with a heap of questions regarding location, price etc. At all times our queries were answered promptly and cordially, and a full range of assistance was offered. We subsequently arranged a visit to view a number of properties which we deemed to be of interest to us and within our price range. Ms Friedland Ramm, as well as being a charming person, was punctual and efficient, and we viewed all we wished to view with a minimum of fuss and invaluable assistance. We found it particularly gratifying that at no time did we feel under any kind of pressure and all our questions were promptly and honestly replied to. If extra information was required it was quickly obtained from whatever source necessary e.g. architects or builders. Prior to actually buying a property, all the bureaucratic necessities, such as banking and legal arrangements (notary, lawyer and power of attorney), were speedily and efficiently carried out by Ms Friedland Ramm, and the whole process was completed in a little over 2 months.
